Statement about SERCO-run Hotel in Stockport

My statement about recent reports regarding a SERCO-run hotel in Stockport:

“Reports of the conditions at the SERCO-run hotel which is being used to house asylum seekers in Stockport are deeply disturbing.

Rights organisations have disclosed that there have been cases of scabies, abusive behaviour from staff, water leaks and the unhygienic preparation and serving of food.

Too often, this is what happens when public contracts get outsourced to private companies with little or no accountability.

The Home Secretary must urgently intervene and work with Stockport Council to ensure that these people are rehoused in a safe location.”
