Statement following the collapse of Arcadia Group

In response to the collapse of Arcadia Group MP for Stockport Navendu Mishra said: 

“I’m saddened to hear of the collapse of Arcadia Group which will result in the closure of Debenhams in Princes Street and lead to the loss of numerous jobs in the store, as well as those in sister shops Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans and Topshop, in addition to Miss Selfridge in Handforth Dean.

“This will be an incredibly difficult time for all those who are now faced with redundancy, just days before Christmas and in the middle of the deepest recession the UK has ever faced.

“I will continue to push the Government to set out more robust financial packages to sustain businesses throughout this ongoing pandemic and ensure we do not see a repeat of this terrible situation.”
